In an earlier post I discussed the simple way of using a free directory submission service to build your backlinks but for those that like to put the sweat in yourself here are five more tips.
1. You can submit to related link directories yourself. Just like the semi-automated version, make sure you have your anchor text and description planned out.
2. Create a “link” page that you can post text links on. A majority of the free directories usually require a reciprocal link back. Paid directories generally do not require a link (but you’re giving them $)
3. Comment on blog posts that are related to your topic of business
4. Try to use deep linking and link to certain pages within your website using relevant anchor text
5. Create a variety of anchor texts that relate to your topic of business and not just the name of your website
Voila… little by little you are on your way!
