Personally, I will always support Autism Research since it is held close to my heart. I worked in a residential school while I was going to college. I worked overnights from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. in a staff intensive unit with non-verbal, aggressive autistic students and it was one of the toughest jobs I ever had, but loved every minute of it. While I had worked with special needs students before, this was my first experience in such an intense environment.
Even harder was watching the families with the daily struggles of visiting and balancing life commitments while having a child with severe autism. A struggle that now as a parent myself, I can appreciate at a different level.
That’s why I commend Dan Reinhold, fellow networker, Self Starters Weekly Elite member, Twitterer and father of a boy with autism. 10% of gross profits his own online ventures at Wahumor is donated to Autism Speaks, the research organization active in the United States, the United Kingdom and Canada.
Currently every 1 in 150 children born is the U.S. alone has been or soon is diagnosed with autism. Dan decided to offer the Second Annual Wonderful Wahumor Giveaway Event.
